Shane/ Officer Figueroa #84845, recieved the " Medal of Valor"award for the shooting his partner, Brent Freyberger # 8674, and him were in on Oct. 31, 2007. This is the highest award you can get with the Police Department. Shane also received the "Medal of Honor" award. We wish you could have been their...physically to receive your medals last night. I remember when you first told us about the story and what had happened about the shooting. You were also VERY excited to get this award(Valor) and very proud of yourself. We are very proud of you and your service within the 3 short years you served as a police officer. We will NEVER forget your selfless act to help, serve, and protect with honor! CONGRATS Shane!!!!

We here in Laveen are extremely proud of Shane as well. He always dedicated his life to the community.
Lt. Kurtenbach has spoken so highly of Shane, as well as his fellow officers. He truly was an amazing man.
We miss Shane dearly and will never forget his courage and strength. He put his life on the line for us, and for that, we Will Never Forget.
